Lenovo attracts SMEs

Personal computer maker Lenovo unveiled a PC store for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), its first in the country.

The store aims to address the specific needs of the SME customer by making the 'Think' brand accessible to them and offering solutions that address the SME community, the company said.

‘SMEs investing heavily in IT’

SMBs are increasingly adopting technology for the betterment of their business and are investing heavily on tools like PCs, the Internet and website to market themselves and compete in global/domestic markets, a Zinnov study revealed.

The study further said that while the overall domestic IT spending is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12 per cent to reach $36 bn by 2015, SMBs will grow at a CAGR of 15 per cent contributing $15 bn by 2015.

Titled 'Indian SMB ICT Adoption Insights’, the study highlights the current state of IT adoption in the SMB segment in India, and predicts the likely trends going forward.

Mobile Has a versatile role for SMEs

India is the second largest and one of the fastest growing mobile markets in the world. On the global front, according to Microsoft Tag, of the 4 billion cell phones in the world, 1.08 billion are smart phones and more than 50 per cent of local searches are done on mobile devices.

Efficient Frontier estimates that 22 per cent of all searches in 2012 will be on mobile phones and it is predicted that in 2014 mobile Internet will overtake desktop usage.

The above data is a glimpse of what we can expect in the future. It is time SMEs look at Mobile not just as a communication tool, but as the revenue generator. Touted as the next generation of e-commerce, mobile commerce (m-commerce) enables users to access Internet without the need to find a place to plug in.

Polycom to offer VaaS solution for SMEs

Targeting the SME sector of India, Polycom has recently announced that it will enable service providers to offer cloud-delivered Video-as-a-Service (VaaS) solutions.

As part of the announcement, Polycom is unveiling Polycom RealPresence Cloud, a wholesale, carrier-ready offering to enable service providers to quickly bring to market VaaS offerings.
