Windows of Opportunity in Child’s Brain Development

Nanette D’SaCEO of Brainworks a new chain of pre-schools that has pan India presence with 55+ schools, Nanette D’Sa is a successful women entrepreneur in the education field.

Nanette set up the Division, including staffing, training, business strategy and division performance. As head of this Division, she conceptualized, developed and rolled out multiple initiatives to extend the Star brands beyond television.  Nanette pioneered the brand extension for local Indiacentric television content across Publishing, Product, Exhibitions, Mobile gaming using Soaps, reality shows, sitcoms, movies, music – targeting kids, women, youth and families.

“Education is one of the largest service sector industries in India characterized by a unique set of attributes. The formal education space is regulated and has a dominant share in the overall education market; however the Pre School market comes under the Informal education space.” Nanette said, “Though at a nascent stage, the Pre-school industry in India with a current estimated size of Rs 7000 crores is expected to top $ 1 billion by 2012, clocking a growth of over 28 percent per year.”

However, the organized sector represents just 17 per cent of the aggregate industry and this is expected to rise to 25 percent in the coming year.

Highlighting the main objective and mission of her venture she stated, “We are aggressively working towards, maximizing the ‘Windows of opportunity’ to enhance learning and maximizing development of the brain in children aged 0-6 years through a scientifically research driven teaching and learning environment encouraging the natural qualities of creativity, curiosity and eagerness to learn in children to develop to their fullest potential”

Prior to Brainworks, Nanette was Sr.Vice President – Licensing & Brand Solutions at Star India Pvt Ltd.

Prior to Star, as Marketing Director, for close to 5 years,  at Mattel India Pvt Ltd, the 100% subsidiary of Mattel Inc the No. 1 Toy company Nanette was part of the core team that built the India strategy for  brands like Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price, Scrabble etc.

With over 8 years in Disney prior to Mattel, Nanette’s experience spans multiple areas covering Strategic brand development and cross functional expertise.

The expertise in branding, kids, moms drives a passion that Nanette is now enjoying - the most fulfilling career of all – building the future of India, through early childhood, the most impressionable years of the child’s life.  With a committed team of professionals and  with a scientific, research based curriculum, advanced edu aids, process driven teaching methodology,  Brainworks is THE place for the mom to entrust her kid to maximize the development and potential of the child.

Nanette D’Sa has a Masters in Marketing from NMIMS Mumbai, an EDP from the Northwestern University Chicago USA, has spent over 9 years as visiting faculty teaching post graduate management programs to give back some of the experience acquired, has completed a Business Coaching program with Franklin Covey and an EQ certification with the Six Seconds Organisation to build on the leadership required to run a company, and is currently pursuing an ECC program to consolidate the practical and theory required for early child development.
