A ‘Lifeline’ for Mobile Consumers

Have you ever been at a social gathering and heard how ‘'had they known you were also in the same area they could have enjoyed a chat with you'’?. Well now it is possible to enable such fun moments. CSR have bought a mobile application by the name Lifeline that offers a social-mapping service that changes the way family and close friends connect and find each other in a mobile environment, showing subscribers where their family and friends are located using their mobile phones. In an exclusive interaction with Faiz Askari of Small Enterprise India, Ashu Pande Vice President of CSR unleashed some unique qualities of lifeline and its utility for Indian market.

What does Lifeline Offer?

Lifeline offers a social-mapping service that changes the way family and close friends connect and find each other in a mobile environment, showing subscribers where their family and friends are located using their mobile phones.

 
How does Lifeline work for an end consumer?

Lifeline allows parents to define areas of interest such as your child's school and automatically get alerted when a loved one enters or exits these areas. You don't have to worry about checking your loved ones location continuously. Lifeline will let you know when you want to know. No more stepping out of a meeting to call the maid and checking if your kid or loved one has reached home.
 
What are the value additions that lifeline offers?

Lifeline keeps track of the last 30 days of history so that you can view a loved one's tracks over time. It helps to compare the tracks with other members of your circle and share their tracks with other friends and family. A fun way to see where your paths crossed.

Some of the features in this application include:
 
- Real time tracking of  your friends, family members:


    a. Periodically sends location updates to the location managing server
    b. Location update interval can go from seconds to an hour based on device movement
    c. Optimized in battery usage. Uses advance algorithm to deduct device movement in updating location
       interval
    d. Can run application both as background or UI application
    e. Displays current location on your device screen
 
- Live Tracking can be viewed by visiting our website athttp://lifeline.csr.com
- User has to register at http://lifeline.csr.com before using TrackMe
- Registered mobile number is required to start the TrackMe. Note, unregistered mobile number will not be accepted

Alert: Set various triggers such as area fence, speed and be alerted via SMS, email when trigger condition meets
Ability to Generate KML and XML data of your current and history locations

New features added in the new release are:

 
    Lifeline registration featue through TrackMe mobile application
    Send SOS message through SMS and email
    Other application UI changes
 
What could be possible usability of this kind of product?

This product is useful for any mobile user who wants to stay updated in their friend or close user group. However, for logistics segment this holds huge potential.
