Small Enterprise India Information Desk

The SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) scenario in India is bright as every year new Small Scale Industries are venturing to the path of success. The government of India is taking various measures to ensure that the SME segment in the country receives all the possible support to register enough growth potential and profit.

A lot of bodies/institutes and associations with public/private partnerships exist in the country, solely focusing on giving the SME segment in India a fillip. Some of such initiatives are briefly mentioned here.

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICC)

FICCI, established in 1927 is the largest and oldest apex business organisation in India. This is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation, which has direct membership from the private as well as public sectors, including SMEs and MNCs, and an indirect membership of over 83,000 companies from regional chambers of commerce.

FICCI plays vital role in bringing about social, economic and political change by means of various policy debates.

National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NIMSME)

National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NIMSME) is an autonomous arm of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

NIMSME came into existence in 1960 and since then has been rendering value oriented services to the SME segment in the country through various training, consultancy, research and education, and extension and information services.

Confederation of Indian Industries (CII)

The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) provides yeomen service to create and sustain a favorable platform for the Indian industries to muster growth. CII has umpteen advisory and consultative processes that would help industries to tread along in the highly competitive market scenario.

Institute of Small Enterprises and Development ISED

The Institute of Small Enterprises and Development (ISED) aims for ‘Sustainable development through enterprise’. This multi-faceted Center for advanced learning and practice in the field of industrial development puts special thrust on the development aspects small and medium enterprises. It is affiliated to the Indian Association of Social Science Institutions (IASSI), as its Permanent Member.

The Institute for Small Enterprises and Development has been focusing on research, education, innovative program design and entrepreneurship development initiatives, advocacy and networking dedicated towards sustainable development through enterprise creation.
